Brandt, Gustie (24 JUL 1877 - 21 FEB 1942)

A lingering illness that originated with a stroke suffered nine years ago and since that time had caused extremely poor health and hospitalization for the past seven months at the Legault hospital claimed the life of Mrs. William Brandt, 64, Saturday, Feb. 21.

Gustie Brandt was born on July 24, 1877, in Germany. When a young lady she came to America and on December 8, 1896, was united in marriage to William Brandt at Withee. The couple made their home on a farm southwest of Withee where she lived the remainder of her life and raised a family of three sons and a daughter.

She was a devote Christian and active in her church work until her illness prohibited her carrying on.

Her loss is mourned by her husband, daughter, Mrs. George Bruckschlager of Withee, and son, Lawrence, and three sisters, Mrs. A. R. Martin, Mrs. Jake Steager, and Mrs. Ed Bruckschlager, all of Withee. Two sons, Emil and Donald, preceded her in death.

Final rites were read from St. John’s Lutheran church at Withee by Rev. Walter Schedler, Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 24. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery.

Pallbearers at the service were Ed Missling, E. Strohkirch, L. Klabon, F. Molzen, John Engel and A. Cizik.
