Grupstra, Palmyra Mae (Marriage - 18 June 1955)

William A. Creed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nyole Creed, Unity, claimed Palmyra Mae Grupstra, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grupstra, Washburn, as his bride, June 18, prior to a 10 o’clock Nuptial Mass at St. Louis Catholic Church, Washburn. The Rev. Paul Boshald was the officiant at the ceremony and Mass.

The bride’s gown of Chantilly lace had insets in the bouffant skirt which extended into a cathedral train. The long sleeves tapered to points at the wrists. A tiara of seed pearls and rhinestones held an elbow length veil of net illusion.

The maid of honor, Miss Karlyn Welton, a cousin of the bride, Washburn, wore a floor length gown of Chantilly lace and net and carried a cascade bouquet of white gladioli. Miss Bonnie Christofferson, Ogema, a cousin of the groom, Miss Marlys Lindquist, Hayward, and Cleo Ann Gilbert, Mellen, wore identical gowns of blue Chantilly lace and net. They carried bouquets of white gladioli.

Dr. Andrew Maata, Ogema, the groom’s uncle, was best man. The other attendants of the groom were William Grupstra, a brother of the bride, of Washburn, Jack Eaton, Hayward, and Ray Cook, Unity.

Miniature attendants were Mary Ann Wilton and Kathleen Arnson, cousins of the bride, who wore embroidered gowns of nylon over pink taffeta. They were escorted by William Danchanew and David Day, cousins of the bride.

Following the church ceremony a breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents. In the afternoon, a reception was held at the St. Louis Hall with the newlyweds greeting guests from 2 to 4 p.m.

The bride is a graduate of Superior State College and was affiliated with Lambda Sigma Sorority. The groom, a graduate of Central State College, Stevens Point, is now attending Pennsylvania State University.

After a honeymoon at Minocqua the young couple are now making their home at the State College in Pennsylvania.

The Register joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.
