Salter, Hazel (14 Aug. 1888 - 22 Feb. 1956)

Mrs. Earl Salter, 67, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Wisconsin at 5 A.M. Tuesday of coronary thrombosis.

Funeral services will be at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, with the Rev. C. Vander Stoep officiating. Burial will be in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Mrs. Salter, nee Hazel Mortimer, was born August 14, 1888 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She received her education there and was married to Earl Salter June 13, 1913. They moved to Unity in 1915 and in 1917 moved to a farm 3 miles southwest of here. In 1929 they purchased their present farm in the Town of Brighton.

She had served as clerk of the Maplewood school, was a member of the Rebekah lodge, Eastern Star, Auxiliary and the Brighton Homemakers.

Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Wm. (Doris) Ihlenfeldt, Ottowa Lake, Mich.; and Mrs. Benjamin (Evelyn) Brill, Vancouver, Wash.; a son, Stewart, of the Town of Brighton; 11 grandchildren; a sister and 2 brothers.

A daughter, Garnet, preceded her in death.

Pallbearers for the funeral of Mrs. Earl Salter on Friday were James Colby, Lester Ewert, Donald Colby, Sheldon Lynn, Alfred Johnson, and John W. Johnson.

Singers were Mrs. Alfred Johnson, Mrs. Ansel Messer and Mrs. J. A. Olson who sang "Abide With Me" and "Face to Face" accompanied by Mrs. Henry Binning on the piano.

Huegel and Miss Betty Salter, Madison; Mrs. Verna Salter, Colby; James Tschudy, Chicago; Mrs. T. R. Salter, Mr. Art Salter, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Salter, Granton.
