Arnett, Val (15 Aug. 1868 - 12 Aug. 1930)

Val Arnett, a former resident of Abbotsford, passed away at his home in Oakland, California, Tuesday, August 12th. Burial was made there.

Mr. Arnett owned the farm just north of the Abbotsford cemetery and at one time owned the village property, in fact, he built the building now occupied by the Tribune office.

A son, Harry Arnett, lives on a farm two miles west of Curtiss, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Johnson, lives in Marshfield.

Mr. Arnett was a member of the Abbotsford Masonic lodge, and two years ago made an extended visit in this vicinity.

Val Arnett was born in Austin, Minn., August 15, 1868, and passed away at his home in Oakland, Calif., Tuesday, August 12, 1930.

At the age of ten years he moved with his parents to Marshfield where he resided several years.

In 1890 he was united in marriage to Threasa Huikfuss of Shawano County, and in 1899 they came to Abbotsford where they made their home until moving to California in 1921.

While here he was employed by the Wisconsin Central, now Soo Line, and since going to California, had been an employee of the Southern Pacific railroad, until forced to give up working about a year ago on account of poor health.

He leaves to mourn, the wife, Mrs. Val Arnett, Oakland, Calif., one son, Harry Arnett, Owen; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Miss, Marshfield; and three brothers, Fred Arnett, Green Bay; Wm. Arnett, Portland, Oregon; and Harry Arnett, Menasha, and two grandchildren, Lowell and Ellis Arnett.

Funeral services were conducted at Oakland Thursday afternoon by the Masonic Order of that city and burial was made in the Oakland cemetery.
