Romens, Leon F. "Lee" (11 Mar 1945 - 26 Mar 2008)

Leon F. "Lee" Romens, age 63, of Wautoma, peacefully passed away Wednesday morning, March 26, 2008, at Wild Rose Hospital.

He was born on March 11, 1945, in Medford, the son of Woodrow and Evelyn (Rinehart) Romens. He married Karen (Felix) Allen on September 17, 2005, in Saxeville at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Leon worked for many years in Milwaukee at Perlick Corporation. He later worked for Tom Van Handel Construction in Appleton as a ground keeping supervisor. Leon was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Saxeville. He was a hardworking, caring man who enjoyed the outdoors and nature and would do anything for others. He will be loved and missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Allen-Romens, Wautoma; his mother, Evelyn Romens, Wautoma; three children, Roger (Laura) Romens, Slinger, Michelle "Micki" (Steve) Pittman, Rocky Mountain, N.C., and Kimberly "Kim" Romens; three step-children, Ted (Alec) Jones, Winneconne, Lori (Scott) Wieck, Greenbush, and Lisa (Jim) Behlman, Oshkosh; three grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren. Leon is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Delores (Jerry) Jolitz, Ripon, Ellen (LeRoy) Taylor, Milwaukee, Audrey Oertel, Wautoma, Joanne (Vince) Marean, Colorado, Norbert (Jeanne) Romens, Amherst, David (Joan) Romens, New Berlin, Shirley, (Ken) Koch, Abbotsford, Rodney (Debra) Romens, Dorchester, and Reed (Geri) Romens, Pittsville; his sister and brothers-in-law, Carol Romens, Neillsville, Daniel Bolander, Wisconsin, and Loren Potter, Michigan; his mother-in-law, Irene Felix; three brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

Leon was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Romens; his sisters and brother, Janet Potter, Darlene Bolander, Duane Romens and Beverly Wolski. He was further preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, James Oertel and Norbert Wolski; and his father-in-law, Rolland Felix.

A memorial service for Leon was held Saturday, March 29, at 11:00 a.m in St. John's Lutheran Church, Saxeville, with Pastor Bob Hanson presiding. A memorial has been established.
