Local News (April 8, 1885)

A newspaper which has twice recently erred in announcing the death of people announces that hereafter any young man bringing news of a death at an hour so late as to make verification impractical, must be accompanied by the remains, not necessarily for publication, but as a guarantee of good faith.

Last Wednesday afternoon Edmund Creed of Unity, had an arm broken in four places while in the planning mill of D. J. Spaulding. Rob Rosenfeld can after Doctor Freeman on his railroad bicycle. Doc reduced the fracture and done the arm up so that it is doing nicely.

Capt. J. H. Cook, formerly of Unity, is a candidate for the appointment of State Pension Agent under the new law passed this winter. J. H. is an old soldier, carrying the effects of a rebel bullet, is well qualified and worthy of the position. We hope he may get it.
