Twenty-five Years a Minister
Last Tuesday, Aug. 1st, occurred the 25th anniversary of the ordination of Rev. Wm. Knuf as Lutheran minister, and a number of his brother clergymen gathered at Athens and gave him a surprise. There were present: Revs. F. H. Siebrandt of Merrill; Carl Schmidt of Spencer; F. H. Moecker and wife of Dorchester; Theo. Laetsch and wife of Eau Claire; C. C. Hartenstein and wife of this city, and Prof. Buerger of Wittenberg. The altar services were conducted by Rev. Laetsch. Revs. Siebrandt, Schmidt and Moecker delivered short addresses and Rev. C. C. Hartenstein read letters of congratulation from those unable to be present. The congregation had arranged for special singing and the whole service was a successful and pleasant surprise.
