I really enjoyed this riveting, mind-boggling account from a man I knew growing up in Loyal. As a kid, I never knew what Sherrin Mack had endured and I wonder about other soldiers in Loyal from my dad's era - he, his friends, etc. As a newspaper writer, I have been writing stories as told to me by WWII vets in our area. Incredible stories and it has made a huge difference in my life. And makes me regret so much, I never asked enough questions of my dad, Paul Davel and the Sherrin Macks in my own hometown. Thanks for sharing this, Paula
