Wehe, Eugene J. Sr. #2 (1 JAN 1915 - 23 APR 2008)

Eugene J. Wehe Sr., 93, Neillsville, formerly of Loyal, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 26, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. Roman Kaiser officiated. Burial followed in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robbie Wehe, Raymond Wehe, Timothy Wehe, Darrel Elpert, David LeFloure and Jason LeFloure.

Eugene Joseph Wehe was born on Jan. 1, 1915, in Clark County, to Boniface and Anna (nee Weber) Wehe. He was raised and received his education in the Loyal area. After his schooling, he farmed in the Loyal area and owned and operated the Night Owl Tavern for many years. In 1940, he married Alice Schmidtke, in Bakerville. After retiring, he moved to Marshfield for a short time and then returned to Loyal. He entered the Neillsville Memorial Home a few years ago and resided there until his death. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal.

Survivors include his children, Eugene Jr. (Carol) Wehe, Alaska, Bill Wehe, Long Beach, Calif., Jim Wehe, Anaheim, Calif., Mike (Carol) Wehe, Janesville, Duane Wehe, Waupaca, Kathy Niswonger, Marshfield, and Margaret (Harry) Scheel, Marshfield; one daughter-in-law, Katherine Wehe, Dorchester; two brothers, Jerome (Millie) Wehe, Loyal, and Bernard Wehe, Santa Barbara, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife in 1991; and seven children, Ronnie, Shirley, Richard, David, Karen, and Kenneth.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
