Local Happenings

R. R. Salter returned home from his Madison trip Saturday.

M. E. Menke and family spent Sunday with relatives at Hewitt.

C. H. Brown of Loyal was here yesterday, on telephone business.

Carl Steder of Marshfield, visited here Sunday, with his relatives and friends.

Mrs. O. R. Briggs and daughter Bernita, were Marshfield visitors Saturday.

Fred and Frank Sill went to Marshfield, today to visit Mrs. Fred Sill at the asylum.

John and August Mueller of Dorchester, were Sunday visitors of their brother Matt.

Miss Katie Philippi is visiting at the home of her brother Mike in Marshfield, today.

Miss Lillie Pacholke is visiting with her sister, Mrs. Sonnie Sturgeon, at Owen, this week.

J. J. Bean of Wausau, spent Sunday at the home of Albert Mitzlaff, in the town of Hull.

Preaching Services in M. E. Church Colby, next Sunday 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Unity 3 p.m.

Albert Lafee of Des Moines, Iowa, arrived here Tuesday, to attend the funeral of his brother Warren.

Johnston’s Orchestra will furnish music for the April Ball, in Umhoefer’s hall, tomorrow (Friday) night.

Tom Wicker who has been working in the woods near Butternut, the past winter, returned home, Tuesday night.

Miss Florence E. Shafer attended the oratorical contest of the eight State Normal Schools, held at Stevens Point, last Friday.

Mrs. J. J. Grimes left for Neenah, this morning, to visit her sister, Mrs. Chas. Schultz, who is receiving treatment in a hospital there.

Tony May and daughter, Marie of Fond du Lac, visited from Wednesday until Friday, at the home of his sister, Mrs. C. Niggeman.

Wednesday was more like a fool of a day than Tuesday. It rained, it snowed, it blowed - oh shucks! It was a sheal of a day. Nuff said.

John J. Grimes attended to business matters in St. Paul and Minneapolis, last week.

Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Carver and Dorothy spent Sunday with relatives in Grand Rapids.

Rollo Collier returned home from Mount Clemens, Mich. on the Sunday morning limited, and is now able to navigate with out his cane.

I. K. Cole, carrier on Rural Route 1, had 62 parcel post packages, besides his usual amount of mail, to deliver on his route, last Friday.

Roscoe Wilkins was down from Abbotsford yesterday, and informed us that he had purchased a sawmill and stock of logs, located eight miles east of Medford, this week.

Max Walthers of Medford, who has been home for a vacation, visited here Sunday, a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Fleischauer. Max is teaching at Hillside, this year, and departed for that place Monday.

Chas. Eichlepp of Chili, visited in Colby a couple of days this week, with his Colby friends. He informed us that he had sold his Chili business and property and would give possession July 1st. Charles will make Phillips his home after that date.

Dr. Andrews of Beloit, will be in Abbotsford, Monday, April 7th, 1913, at the office of Dr. Friend, where he may be seen by those desiring consultation relative to eye, ear, nose or throat, or by those wishing to have glasses fitted.

Mrs. Wm. Zassenhaus and daughter Mrs. C. H. Gay, went to Milwaukee, Monday, to visit Misses Mary and Clara Zassenhaus, who are teaching in that city. Mrs. Zassenhaus will make her home there with her daughters. Mrs. Gay will be absent about two weeks.

Louis Burkhardt of Sheboygan, and Arthur Harms of Potter, came up for a visit with their relatives, the Frome families. Mr. Harms returned home this morning, but Mr. Burkhardt, who is looking after lumber for a Sheboygan firm, will remain a few days longer.

Mesdames A. M. Christofferson and E. L. Wicker were hostesses at a dinner given to the Y.M.W. Bridge Club, Wednesday evening, at the Christofferson residence. The evening was spent very pleasantly in varied amusements, chief among which was the singing of old college songs.

The school board has engaged Mrs. Alma Helen Nohr of Ripon as teacher *** Note: The remainder of this article was missing.
