King, Dorothy (Marriage - 6 June 1944)

The wedding of Dorothy King, Mankato, Minn., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. King, of that city, and John Roberts, of the United States Army, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Roberts, of Neillsville, was solemnized at the home of the bride on June 6, at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. W. H. Sterns, pastor of the First Congregational Church officiated, at the double ring ceremony. The bride and groom were home on leave and furlough, Miss King from the Minnesota University, where she is enrolled as a cadet nurse, and the bridegroom from Odgen, Utah, where he is with the weather division of the army air corps.

The bride wore a simple two piece dress of soft blue crepe and carried an arm bouquet of Briarcliff roses and feverfew. Her gold brooch was a gift from the bride-groom.

The bride was attended by Miss Marjorie Winn, a friend, and the groom by Glen Roberts, his brother, of Neillsville.

A reception was held immediate following the ceremony. Decorations consisted of white flowers and candles and traditional tiered cake.

Both bride and bridegroom graduated from Mankato High School, and later attended Macalester college until the bridegroom was called to service, and the bride began training as a cadet nurse.

Those from Neillsville who attended the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Roberts, parents of the groom, Glen Roberts, brother of the groom, and Miss Willmett Russell.
