Martens, Edna Emilie (26 Mar. 1912 - 7 July 1944)

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Emilie Martens, 32, were conducted on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church. The Rev. N. J. Dechant, pastor, conducted the services and burial took place in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Mrs. Mertens died on Friday, July 7, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been a patient for several weeks. Death was attributed to complications following an operation.

Edna Emilie Bohnhoff, daughter of Fred and Viola Bohnhoff, was born on March 26, 1912, at the home of her parents in the town of Hewett. She grew to womanhood here and attended her home school at Hewettville. Her entire life was spent in Clark County.

She was married to Julius A. Martens at Globe October 22, 1932. They resided on a farm in the town of Pine Valley until about a year and a half ago, when they sold the farm, and moved to Neillsville, where they have since resided. Mrs. Martens was well liked by all who knew her. She was a faithful worker at the Red Cross surgical dressing room until the time of her recent illness. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church.

Surviving are her husband, her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lockman, and a brother, Wilson Bohnhoff, who resides at home. Her father and a sister, Amanda Ella, and a brother, Jesse Fred, preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were: George Mashin, Brooks Karl, Chester Klatt, Harry Ambelang, August Nemitz and Ed. Zank. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Robinson their daughter, Tressie, and two grandchildren, Fennimore, were here to attend the funeral services.
