Lt. Lewis J. Milton, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Milton, wrote his parents in a letter dated July 2, that he had attended the rest camp on the Isle of Capri after having completed his fifty missions in the Italian theater of war. To quote from the letter: "I haven’t been able to write for the past week, as I was spending what you might consider my summer vacation on the Isle of Capri. We lived in modern hotels with baths and nice furniture (not to mention sheets!) It will take a few days to get back into the swing of things again. I feel plenty lazy. The food was just like we had in the states and I had breakfast in bed seven mornings out of seven, and dances every night. All in all it was an ideal place for a change. One could hardly call it a rest. The island itself is the same quaint little place it always was - untouched by war…. Naples is returning slowly to normal. There has been quite a change made since I was there. Street cares are running again, and most of the ruins have been cleaned up."
