Janice H. Rice

Janice H. Rice, 84, of Marshfield died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the Memorial Medical Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Rembs Funeral Home with Rev. Ruth M. Egerer officiating.

Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery with Ron Doine, Steve Dieringer, Terry Frankland, Neil Riedel, Jeff Nyberg and Marlin Laidlaw serving as the pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Janice was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Chippewa Falls to Orin W. and Hazel (Wolfe) Trindal. She graduated from Loyal High School and from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in teaching.

She taught school in Thorp and Plainfield prior to her marriage to Dr. Kenneth W. Rice. They were married Oct. 3, 1953, at the Methodist Church in Loyal. Ken died March 20, 1989.

She enjoyed golfing, yard work, traveling with her husband and socializing with her friends.

Janice is survived by one son, Kim (Kathy) Rice of Marshfield; two grandchildren, Christopher Rice of Marshfield and Lindsey Rice of St. Louis Park, Minn.; and their mother, Vicki Rice of Marshfield; four step-grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) Hansen and family of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Neal (Jenny) Franz and family of Stevens Point, Tanya (Nick) Sondelski and family of Stevens Point and Becky Franz of Wausau.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; one brother, William Trindal; and a twin sister, Joyce MacSwain.

Expressions of sympathy may be given to the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
