Frantz, Martha (24 June 1874 - 14 Apr. 1945)

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Frantz, Neillsville, were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, at the Becker funeral home, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Burial took place in Vahalla cemetery in that city. Mrs. Frantz had gone a few weeks ago to Ft. Atkinson to visit her step-son, Lt. (j.g.) Edward Frantz, and his family, who were there for a few days. From there, she went to Milwaukee to visit at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ross Lombard, where she was taken ill. Embolism was the cause of death.

Martha Bahlke, daughter of Robert and Wilhelmina Bahlke, was born June 24, 1874, in Altdam, Germany, and came with her parents to this country in 1882. She lived in Muskegon, Mich., and in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1928, she was united in marriage to Henry Frantz, who preceded her in death. She is survived by three children of a former marriage, Mrs. Ross Lombard, Milwaukee; Mrs. Paul Dobbert, Elkhorn; William Schultz, Seattle, Wash. Also surviving are five step children, Mrs. Sam Goddard, Ft. Atkinson; Oscar Frantz, who lives in Oregon; Lt. (j.g.) Edward Frantz, in navy service in Virginia; Harry Frantz of Neillsville, and Henry Frantz, who is in Florida. There are 14 grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister and a brother: Mrs. Leon Brown, Milwaukee, and Harry Bahlke, Horicon.

Mrs. Frantz was a member of the Reformed church of Neillsville, and of the Women’s Guild of the church, the Rebekah Lodge, Women’s Relief Corps, Women’s Benefit Associaton and the Pythian Sisters.

Harry Frantz and his family and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Frantz attended the funeral services.
