Krom, Saul (? - 17 AUG 1945)

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday morning in Chicago for Saul Krom, son of Ben Krom of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), who died at the hospital in Marshfield at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning of last week, following injuries received in New Guinea. He served in the Field Artillery and carried a rank of Private First Class.

He entered the service Sept. 20, 1942, and left the United States June 19, 1943 where he served in the Hawaiian Islands for more than a year. From there he went to New Guinea and was injured in battle in July 1944. From there he was transferred to the Hines General Hospital in Chicago. Three weeks ago he was admitted to the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, after he had been at Abbotsford for a visit and it was here that he passed away.

Four years before entering services he had been employed at the Christensen Sales Co. in Abbotsford, Wis.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning in Chicago, and he was laid to rest in the family lot of Waldheim Cemetery.

Attending the funeral were his father, Ben Krom and brother, Harold of Withee, George of Owen and Milton of Chicago.
