Johnson, Isaac (1881 - 8 NOV 1945)

Isaac Johnson, residing south of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Thursday evening, after a short illness. He was 64 years of age.

He was born in Oulu, Finland, in 1881, and came to the United States in 1902, as a young man. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jacobson in Ironwood, Mich., and then moved to his farm south of Owen, thirty-one years ago.

Ten children were born to this union, nine surviving. Six daughters, Mrs. Harold Banks of Waukesha; Mrs. John Thompson, Waukesha; Mrs. Frank Schneider, Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Lyle Rotick, Loyal; Mrs. Wm. Hingess, Owen; and Mrs. Dale Horn, Greenwood. Three sons, Isaac Jr. of Conover; Arnold of Waukesha; and Erland, who is at home. There are also surviving fourteen grandchildren, and one sister and one brother.

Funeral service will take place at the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) Monday at 1:00 o’clock, with Rev. Matthews officiating, and burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery.

Family Notes

 

My grandparents are John and Caroline (Meyer) Horn and
Isaac and Elizabeth (Jacobson) Johnson.

Both of my mother's parents came from Finland, changed their last names, and married in Ironwood Michigan. My Grandfather's name when he went through Ellis Island was Isaac Pikkarainen and my Grandmother's name when she went through Ellis Island was recorded as Elisabeth Nurkku (should have been Nurkka).  Delmond Horn.
