Forman, Wheeler Edmund (29 May 1869 - 5 Oct. 1944)

Funeral services for Wheeler Edmund Forman, 75, of Neillsville, were conducted on Saturday afternoon, October 7, at the Congregational Church, preceded by brief services at the Jaster Funeral Home. The Rev. George W. Longenecker, pastor of the church was the officiating clergyman. Interment took place in the Neillsville Cemetery. Mr. Forman died early in the morning of October 5, at the Neillsville Hospital, after an illness of eleven days, following a sudden heart attack on September 24.

Mr. Forman was born May 29, 1869, at Brillion, Calumet County, Wis., the son of Cyrus and Olivia West Forman. At the age of eight years, he came with his parents to Clark County, settling on a farm in the town of Weston, where he resided until 1902. He then moved with his family to Neillsville, having passed the civil service examination as rural main carrier. He served in this capacity 32 years, retiring in 1934.

On July 1, 1893, he was married at Neillsville to Ettie Jones, who preceded him in death on November 14, 1921. Two children were born to this union, Leland and Isadora.

Since his retirement as mall carrier and until his last illness, he remained active in business and in civic life, serving on the county board as representative from the first ward of the city for a number of years. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was manager of a store in Marion, Wis., for a time and for the past years has been employed in the Berger and Quinlan store in Neillsville.

In 1923 he was married to Mary Visger, who died in 1937. On May 29, 1941, he was married to Hattie Levene of Neillsville, who survives him. Also surviving are the two children, Leland M. Forman of Minneapolis, and Isabora, Mrs. William Glasow of Syracuse, N. Y.; three grandchildren, Marcia Forman and Harley and Laline Glasow, and a great grandchild, Judith Ann Glasow. One brother, Clarence, and a sister, Mary Colven, are deceased.

Mr. Forman fully merited the high esteem in which he was held by his family, his neighbors and friends. He was not only a kind husband and father, but a good neighbor. He proved himself worthy of trust in the public and fraternal offices which he held.

Pallbearers were Fred Bullard, J. D. Cummings, N. F. Toptine, Charles Poole, Ole Aspen and Arnold Yankee.

Relatives and friends from out of town attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Leland Forman and daughter, Marcia, Minneapolis; Mrs. William Glasow and daughter, Laline, Syracuse, N. Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Telyea and Mr. and Mrs. August Herring and son, Sparta; Miss Verma Forman, Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Grace Lester and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Johnson, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Archie Sparks, and Mr. and Mrs. William Hein, Humbird; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cattanach, Fay McCray and Howell Stuve; Owen; Harold Christianson and Richard Free, Withee; Frank Drake, Greenwood and Percy Voight, Loyal.
