Erickson, Phillip (4 Feb. 1926 - 6 Oct. 1944)

Pvt. Phillip Erickson, aged 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Erickson, Granton, Rt. 3, died suddenly of a heart attack on Friday, October 6, at Ft. Bregg, N. C. The body, accompanied by a military escort, was brought to Neillsville on Tuesday morning, October 10. Military funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Jaster Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Floyd A. Fahlgren, pastor of the Methodist Church. Burial took place in the town of Grant Cemetery.

Phillip Erickson was born at Hankinson, N. D.; on February 4, 1926, son of Elmer and Francis Erickson. When he was one year of ago, the family moved to Clark County, had have lived since on the farm in the town of Grant. He entered army service only a few months ago.

Surviving are his parents, four brothers and three sisters. The brothers are George of Milwaukee, and Earl, James and Wallace at home. The sisters are Mrs. Elmer Dahlke, Milwaukee, Mrs. Carl Eisentraut, town of Grant and Mildred at home.

Pallbearers were Dick Grassman, Elmer Schultz, William Kuechenmeister, Alfred Spiegel, Everett Handt and Arthur Drescher, Jr.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Erickson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Erickson and daughter, Mrs. Emma Lockrum, Mrs. Arnold Larson, and Hazel Lockrum.
