Horak, Joseph (24 Jan. 1859 - 5 Nov. 1944)

Funeral services for Joseph Horak, aged 85, town of Hewett farmer, were conducted at 9:30 a.m. on November 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Rev. J. A. Biegler officiating at the requiem high mass. Burial took place in the parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Jaster Funeral Home.

Mr. Horak died on Sunday morning, November 5, at his farm home, where he had been ill for some time.

He was born on January 24, 1859, in Checkoslovakia (Czechoslovakia), where the first 32 years of his life were spent. On April 17, 1891, he was married to Mary Kadlecek, and the same year they came to America. The family resided in Chicago for nine years, and in 1900 moved to Clark County, settling in the town of Hewett, where he was since resided. He was a life long member of the Catholic Church.

Mr. Horak is survived by his wife and seven children: Mary, Mrs. Joe Jarolinek, Emil, Mike, and Frank, all of Collins, Mont.; Josephine, Mrs. Frank Jarolinek, Chicago, Ill.; Emily, Mrs. Edward Brauner, Black River Falls; and Joseph, Jr., on the home place.
