Vandeberg, Albert (12 JUN 1917 - 27 FEB 1942)

Orson Albert Vandeberg, 25, Granton, passed away at the Neillsville hospital at 5:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27 after an illness of about two months.

The young man was born at York Center June 12, 1917, to William and Jessie (Brown) Vandeberg. He spent his entire life in Clark county. Learning the shoemaker’s trade in Greenwood, Orson later conducted a shoe repair shop at Granton. Deprived of educational opportunities, through illness, the death of his mother and the depression, he made the best possible use of his time, helping his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Eide, on the farm until the opportunity to learn a trade presented itself. He was kindly and ambitious traits became more pronounced as he grew to manhood.

He is survived by his father, who lives in Fond du Lac county; three brothers, Almond of Prescott, Chris of Neillsville and Willie of St. Paul and two sisters, Minnie, Mrs. Eide of Neillsville, and Pearl, Mrs. Robert Elmhorst of Granton. His mother passed away 16 years ago.

Funeral services were held at the Schiller Funeral Home, Neillsville, at 2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. George W. Longenecker officiating. The body was interred in the Neillsville cemetery. York Center Cor.
