Shaver, Aaron #2 (17 MAY 1821 - 4 APR 1903)

Aaron Shaver died Saturday, April 4th, 1903, aged 82 years, lacking one month and four days. Death resulted from heart failure, following an attack of acute indigestion. It was the breaking down of old age.

A military funeral was held at the house Monday, under the auspices of the G. A. R. post, the W. R. C. attending, and the pallbearers and a firing squad from Co. A also attending and marching with the older soldiers.

Deceased was born at Osnabrooke, Ont., May 17, 1821, married Maria Daniels at Madrid, N.Y., in 1851, moved to New York State in 1854, enlisted in the 106th N.Y. Inf. Aug. 29, 1862, discharged on account of sickness Mar. 20, 1865, moved to Wisconsin in May 1866, and to Neillsville (Clark Co.) in 1867. In the ‘70’s while clearing land on the old Shaver homestead a few miles northwest of this city, he was struck by a falling tree, and through this accident lost an arm. His wife died in 1877, since which time he made his home with his only living child, Mrs. Lena Kemery. He was a member of the M. E. Church for many years, and a trustee. He was a genial man, kind hearted and a good neighbor. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Guy W. Campbell.
