Wood, Elizabeth (11 February 1883 - 20 May 1946)

Mrs. Frank Wood of Waupun, and a former Neillsville resident, passed away at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, May 20, (1946). She was taken to the hospital Sunday following a severe heart attack.

Elizabeth Wagner was born February 11, 1883, in Mt. Pulaski, Ill., being the only daughter of Karl and Emilie Wagner. She spent most of her early life at Mt. Pulaski and on January 21, 1903, she was united in marriage with Frank Wood, also of Mt. Pulaski. For several years they made their home in that vicinity; and in the spring of 1918 they moved onto a farm near Neillsville, where they lived until two years ago.

She leaves to mourn her death beside her husband, the following children: Walter E. Wood of Waupun; Warren R. Wood of Newfane, N.Y.; Mrs. Lester (Ruth) Rutter of Lockport, N.Y.; Wilfred F. Wood of Augusta; Mrs. Lyman (Esther) Heidemann of Neillsville; and Wilhelm H. Wood, at home. There are also eight grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers: Carl of Pana, Ill.; Ottmar of Mt. Pulaski; and Herbert of Gowanda, N.Y. A brother, George, preceded her in death.

Brief funeral services were conducted in Waupun by the Rev. Herbner, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, of which she was a member. The body was taken to Mt. Pulaski for burial.

Friday afternoon, May 24, (1946), funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Ray O. Zumstein, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where the deceased was in early life baptized and later confirmed. Burial was in the Mt. Pulaski Cemetery.

All of the children, the husband and brothers were present for the services.
