MOTHER & BROTHER DIE AT ABBOTSFORD

Mrs. M. C. Bunnell Formerly of This City, Has Relatives Taken

Mrs. Sophia Parkhill, mother of Mrs. M. C. Bunnell, formerly a resident of Stevens Point, but now at Abbotsford, died on Monday, March 20, according to word received here in a letter from Mrs. Bunnell. Mr. and Mrs. Bunnell left here two years ago. Mr. Bunnell is a conductor on the Soo Line. Charles Parkhill, a brother, died ten years previous to Mrs. Parkhill's death.

The following clipping from an Ashland newspaper tells of the death of Mrs. Parrkhill and Charles:

"Sophia Parkhill, wife of Reuben E. Parkhill, died at her home in Abbotsford on Monday, March 20, after patiently suffering for nearly a year past from carcinoma."

"Sophia Schultz was born in Mecklenberg-Schwerin, Germany, September 6, 1864, and was the eldest of three sons and two daughters born to Fred Schultz and Louisa Hartwig. When seven years of age her parents came to America and for six years resided in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1877 her parents moved to a farm in the town of Holeton, where they resided ever since. In the year 1882 on January 18 she was united in marriage to Reuben E. Parkhill and to this union nine children were born, five of whom, Frank, of Ashland; Hilda (Bremer) of Holeton; Edith (Bunnell) and Eli of Abbotsford; and Lillian (Lamkins) of Manawa still survive and were all present at the funeral. Her eldest sons Charles, preceded her in death ten days, his funeral being from the family home just one week prior to the death of his mtoher, and three died in infancy, all being buried in the family plot in the Holeton Cemetery. In addition to her husband and the children above named she is survived by her aged mother, now 82 years of age and two brothers, Charles and Frank Schultz, both of the town of Holeton, who were also present at the obsequies."

"Although the deceased had known for some time past that her malady was one beyond the aid of medical skill, yet she bore the same with heroic fortitude and resignation always appearing contented and cheerful to family and friend, bearing her troubles uncomplainingly."

"The funeral was held from the Presbyterian Church, at Abbotsford, Rev. J. C. Jorgenson preaching the sermon and the remains where laid to rest beside the four children who have preceded her."
