Hardwick, Joyce (Marriage - 22 May 1948)

At a candlelight service at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 22, (1948) in the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, Miss Joyce Hardwick of Sturm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hardwick of Humbird, became the bride of Carroll E. Kelsh, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Kelsh of Humbird. The Rev. N. J. Dechant performed the double ring ceremony, against a background of gladiolas, ferns and snapdragons.

The bride wore white satin trained gown with finger-tip veil crowned with yellow roses and carnations, and carried a bouquet of yellow roses with feather trim. Matron-of-honor was Mrs. Betty Marohl, a sister of the groom, wearing a pale green gown; and the bridesmaid was Miss Ruth Kelsh, another sister of the groom, in pale peach.

The bestman was Wayland Hardwick, a brother of the bride, and the other attendants were Robert G. Harder of Augusta and Dale Hardwick, another brother of the bride. Mrs. Will Thieler sang, "Oh, Promise Me" and "At the Dawn," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Ray Arndt.

Twenty-three guests attended a wedding reception following the ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tesmer, Neillsville. Mrs. Tesmer is a sister of the bride. The house was decorated in peach and green, with wedding bell motif.

Out-of-town guests included: Arnold Hanusa, an uncle of the groom, who flew from Chateau, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Dickman of Monroe, Iowa an uncle and aunt of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Finch and family of Tomah; and Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Houghton and daughter, Leona, of Beloit.

After the reception a dance was held at the Silver Dome.

The bride is a graduate of Humbird High School, and owns and operates a beauty shop in Strum. The groom also graduated from Humbird High School, and is employed as a lineman by the A. T. & T. The young couple planned a wedding trip through Michigan. They are going to make their home in Strum.
