Moffatt, Lizzie (16 February 1867 - 22 December 1949)

Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Moffatt were held Monday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home. She died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield on December 22, 1949. The Rev. Virgil Nulton officiated at the funeral, and interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Lizzie Forbush was born February 16, 1867, to George and Mary Forbush in Adams County. In 1888 she came to Clark County with her parents and they located on a farm in the Town of Seif. She received her education in the rural schools there. On September 21, 1888, she was married to Eugene Moffatt. They bought an 80-acre tract of wooded land in the Town of Hewett. They chopped trees and built a log house and barn in 1889.

Mrs. Moffatt was a member of the Haugen-Richmond Post, No. 73, American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by five sons: Harry Moffatt, Hallie Moffatt and Vilas Moffatt, all of Neillsville, Eugene Moffatt, of Tiffany, and Percy of Minnesota. Eighteen grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, a brother, Harry Forbush of Watertown, S.D., and a half-sister, Mrs. George (Laura) Amidon of Neillsville also survives.

Mr. Moffatt preceded her in death in 1931. Deceased, also are a sister, Maude, in 1927; a son, Willard, in 1942; four brothers, Charles, George, Frank and Ed; and a sister, Mrs. Albert (Addie) Russel.

Miss Mary Ann Smith sang two selections accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Helen Smith, at the piano.

Pallbearers were: William Jake, Gust Holtz, Thomas Wren, Ernest Campbell, Earl Marden, and Ernest Schuelke.

Persons from out of town attending were: Eugene Moffatt of Tiffany; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Cox of Edgerton; Joe Cox of Mineral Point; and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Van Horn of Alma Center.
