Reisner, Shorty (12 SEP 1936 - 25 AUG 2013)

Shorty Reisner, 76, Sheldon, died at his home on Sunday, Aug. 25, after a 3-1/2 year battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. at First Church of Christ in Sheldon, with Jeremy Allard officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Nash-Jackan Funeral Home of Ladysmith assisted the family with arrangements.

Shorty Reisner was born on September 12, 1936 in Sheldon to the late Alfred and Edna (Snyder) Reisner.

On August 15, 1957 in Milwaukee, he married Cooky Amble, who survives. He lived in Sheldon his whole life.

Shorty was known for his quick wit, his passion for logging, fishing, mechanics, and more fishing, particularly in Canada. He also enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Jule (Lorene) of Ladysmith and Rich (special friend Debbie) of Sheldon; daughters, Kathy (Ray) Dassow of Colby and daughter-in-law, Mary Reisner of Glen Flora; five grandchildren, Steve, Christy, Nicky, Trevor and Tara; and seven great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Indya, Kylie, twins Kaden and Connor, Alex and Lucas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Kenneth, one grandson, Michael, and six siblings, Art, Edward, Martha, Lucille, Charles and Ruby.

Shorty was a man who knew no strangers. He loved fishing, his friends and his family. To all of you who share our loss, and to all who opened wide your hearts and friendship, we thank you for all you have done for us. We do not have words to express how grateful we are to all of our friends and neighbors who have stood beside us to support and encourage us in this time. Your gifts of food, your visits and your many acts of kindness have been a true source of comfort to us. A special thanks to Hope Hospice for being there when we needed them. The family of Shorty Reisner.
