Mooney, John Anthony (7 April 1878 - 15 March 1950)

John Mooney, age 71, died at the St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield on March 15, 1950.

The body lay in state at the Bergemann Funeral Home until 9 a.m. on Saturday. Then it was taken to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where services were held. Rev. Fr. John J. Pritzl officiated. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Mooney was born to Anthony and Mary Condon Mooney on April 7, 1878, at Unity, Wis. He spent his entire life in Clark County having lived at Unity until the age of five years. At that time his parents died and he made his home with an uncle at Greenwood. He lived there until 1919, when he moved to Granton. He was a fireman in Kemmeter’s mills for many years. Later years he lived on the west side of Granton and ran a chicken farm until he became ill.

He is survived by one sister, Miss Jennie Mooney of Jackson, Mich. One sister, Mary, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were: Lloyd Spry, Charles Guk, Alvin Garber, William Schmidtke, Ollie Poler, and Clay Converse, all of Granton.
