Podobnik, Della M. (2 JAN 1930 - 13 SEP 2013)

Della M. Podobnik, 83, Marshfield, formerly of Willard, died on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Ministry Saint Joseph Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30
a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 19, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. Rev. Steve Brice will officiate. Burial will follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m., until time of service.

Marguerite Della Martens was born on Jan. 2, 1930, in the town of Fremont, rural Chili, the daughter of William M. and Sophie (nee Croel) Martens. She was raised and received her education in Clark County area schools, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1948. After graduation, Della worked at Clark Electric for a short time before her marriage to Emil Podobnik on Oct. 7, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood. They farmed for a couple years in the Greenwood area, and then moved to Milwaukee. While living in Milwaukee, Della worked as a secretary for Wisconsin Motors, Wagner Iron Works, and Communication Workers of America. They moved back to Clark County and purchased the Lake Side Lodge at Rock Dam, which they operated from 1967-75. After selling the tavern, Della worked for the Clark County Forestry and Parks Department until retiring in 1992. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and K.S.K.J. Lodge.

Della is survived by three sisters, Dorthe Westberg, Prineville, Ore., Mabel Kruger, Las Vegas, Nev., and Judy (Ron) Allen, Milwaukee; three brothers, William Martens, Marshfield, Hilbert "Bert" (Donna) Martens, Junction City, and Tim Martens, Milwaukee; one sister-in-law, Karen Martens, Waupaca; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil, on June 11, 1992; two sisters, Helen Garbush and Jean Michalski; and two brothers, Richard Martens and Ted Martens.
