Klimmer, Melvin (14 Apr. 1937 - 5 June 2003)

Melvin "Mel" Klimmer, 66, 7006 Old Hwy 18, Custer, died Thursday June 5, 2003 at home while under the care of his family and Ministry Home Care - Hospice Services.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Boston Funeral, Home with Deacon Thomas Jirous officiating. Burial will be at Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Boston Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.

A memorial is established in his name in lieu of flowers for Ministry Home Care Hospice.

Mr. Klimmer was born April 14, 1937, in Loyal, a son of the late Anton and Grace (Ryan) Klimmer. He grew up and attended schools there. He worked for a time in Loyal on a milk delivery route.

He entered the U.S. Army on Sept. 2, 1959. He was stationed with the First Recon Squadron, 4th Cavalry at Fort Riley, Kansas. He received an honorable discharge on Aug. 31, 1965. He received the sharpshooter and expert marksman badge and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was married to Elizabeth Formella on Nov. 11, 1967, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

They lived in Milwaukee for a time and then moved to Stevens Point in 1977.

He worked for Steel King for a short time and then joined CKKC Trucking as a driver in 1979. He retired in June 2000.

He was a former member of the Arnott Lions Club.
