Spangler, Phillip John (18 June 1902 - 13 August 1950)

Phillip John Spangler, age 48, died at his home on Sunday afternoon as the result of a heart attack.

The body lay in state at the Bergemann Funeral Home until Tuesday when it was taken to the family home where services were conducted at two o’clock Wednesday with the Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Spangler was born at Loyal on June 18, 1902, to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Spangler. He lived his entire life on the farm on which he was raised. On November 23, 1926, he was married to Bessie Klein at Neillsville.

He is survived by his wife and five children: Harvey 17, Verlan 14, Irma 11, James 8, and Rita 6, all at home. Three brothers, Anton of Loyal, Frank of Marshfield, and Joe of Neillsville, and three sisters, Mrs. Victor (Ann) Garbisch, of Loyal, Mrs. Herman (Nora) Magedanz of Loyal, and Mrs. Max (Pauline) Zink of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Funeral services were held at the Spangler home on Wednesday afternoon for Phillip Spangler. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery with Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating.

Pallbearers were Anton Walters, Joe Walters, Phillip Schecklman, Albert Schecklman, Stephen Tichy and Romy Goetz.

Miss Mary Ann Smith sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. Virgil Nulton.

Relatives from out of town attending the rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Klein, Elgin, Ill., Charles and Edward Klein, Elgin, Ill., Mrs. Oscar Behm, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. William Seidelman, Owen, and Max Zink of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
