Colby, Wis. - Mar. 6, 1958

Mrs. Louis Frane is very ill at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital.

Mrs. George Kowalk underwent surgery at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital Wednesday.

Mrs. August Nagel underwent an operation at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital Friday.

Billy Frome received his discharge from the U.S. Army after serving two years, part of which time was in Germany.

Mr. and Mrs. Allyn Sweet and two sons of Milwaukee spent the week-end with Mrs. Sweet’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Brill.

Frank Meyer of Colby accompanied Leonard Nickel and Charles Ewert of Unity on a trip to Phillips last week Tuesday where they spent the day ice fishing.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sossaman and children of Muskego spent the week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Sossaman and Mr. and Mrs. John E. Anderson, and other relatives.

Donald Smart of the town of Hull was a guest of the Wisconsin Breeders Association at a luncheon meeting in Rice Lake on February 24. He was chosen as the 4-H club member in this part of the state who carried out and developed the most outstanding Holstein-Friesian farming program.

Mrs. Ed. Mueller of Colby is a cousin of Dottie Filo of Evanston, Ill., one of the 16 entrants in the Miss Exquisite Form Contest. She won the contest last year. A picture of the 16 girls was printed in the February 20 issue of the Phonograph. Mrs. Edward Mueller is employed at Heimerl’s Variety.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peterson and family came up from Tomah Sunday to help her father, Johan Wolf, celebrate his birthday anniversary as well as Kenneth’s and their daughter’s so it was a triple celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Wolf were also guests. In the evening, friends and relatives honored Mr. Wolf with a birthday party.

Army Pfc. Karl W. Hofman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hofman of Colby, Route 1, recently participated in "Sabre Hawk," a Seventh Army maneuver which involved more than 100,000 troops in Germany. Hofman is regularly assigned as a tank driver in Headquarters Company of the Eighth Division’s Eighth Infantry in Mainz.
