Bender, Barbara (Marriage - 21 June 1958)

Miss Barbara Bender, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bender, and William Schmidtbauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Schmidtbauer, were united in marriage in the Colby Methodist church Saturday afternoon, June 21, Dr. Roger Knutson reading the marriage ceremony. Mrs. Bernard Laabs sang "Because" and "The Lord’s Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Howard Rannow.

The bride was attired in a floor-length lace gown, Sabrina neckline. Her finger-tip veil was attached to a hat of lace trimmed with pearls. Her bouquet consisted of roses, stephanotis and ivy in crescent shape.

Mrs. Frank Nelson of New York, N.Y., the matron of honor, wore a dress of watermelon pink, waltz length of crystalline material, chiffon ties of the same color draped down the back. Her bouquet consisted of light yellow and white carnations in crescent shape. Miss Donna Witte of Colby and Miss Marlys Scharlou of Menomonie, the bridesmaids, wore blue waltz-length gowns of crystalline material, chiffon ties of the same color draped down the back. Their bouquets consisted of yellow and white carnations, in crescent shape. Miss Dianne Bender, the junior bridesmaid, wore a watermelon pink floor-length dress of crystalline material with chiffon ties of the same color. Her bouquet consisted of yellow and white carnations.

The groom was attended by Frank Schmidtbauer of Wausau, Frank Nelson of New York, N.Y., and Paul Schmidtbauer of Tomahawk. Ushers were Brice Bender of Colby and Jake Schmidtbauer of Tomahawk.

A buffet supper was served at 5:30 at the church parlors which were decorated with peonies and iris.

After a wedding trip to the Black Hills, the couple will be at home at Tomahawk, Route 1. The groom is employed by the Owen-Illinois Paper Co.

Out-of-town guests were from Minneapolis, Minn., New York, N.Y., Willow Springs, Missouri, Chicago, Ill., Milwaukee, Madison, Wausau, Antigo, Ladysmith, Tomahawk, Oshkosh, Richland Center and Hazelhurst.
