Tennis, Rosa (7 July 1877 - 31 May 1958)

Mrs. Rosa Tennis of Unity, Wisconsin died at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital Saturday at 6:00 P.M., at the age of 80 years, complications being the cause of her death. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wis., Rev. John B. Pinion officiating and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Frank Will, Tony Will, Steve Bazak, William Kuranda, Ed Feit and Frank Jordan.

The former Rosa Harry was born on July 7, 1877, in Two Rivers. She was married to Joseph Tennis on June 8, 1897, at Colby, Wis. They lived in Glencoe, Ill., for a few years before moving to Unity, Wis. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church and the Christian Mothers Society. After the death of her husband, she made her home with her son, Bernard, for a number of years. A daughter, Mrs. Irene Pohl, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons, Sylvester of Tripoli, Melvin of Unity and Bernard of the town of Unity; two brothers, William Harry of Owen and Lewis Harry of Marshfield; 12 grand children and 11 great grand children.

Like all the early settlers, Mrs. Tennis was a good Christian with industrious habits, and, being of a kindly and friendly disposition, had many friends who will always remember her for her good qualities.
