Posda, Josephine (28 JUN 1947)

A beautiful wedding was solemnized at a nuptial high mass at St. Hedwig’s Church at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on Saturday morning June 28th, 1947, at ten o’clock, when Miss Josephine Posda, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Posda of Junction (Clark Co.), became the bride of Lawrence Zurakowski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Zurakowski of Thorp. Rev. Piekarski performed the double ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a beautiful gown of white bridal satin, fashioned in princess style, with a beaded front, sweetheart neckline, long sleeves pointed at the wrist, and a train which was three yards in length. She wore a long net veil which was trimmed with lace and insertion and was arranged at the head with a beaded tiara. Her jewelry was a pearl and rhinestone necklace and earrings to match, which were a gift from the groom. She carried a shower bouquet of calla lilies, carnations and lilies of the valley, all white and also carried a white rosary. During he ceremony she placed a bouquet of white carnations on the altar of the Blessed Virgin. She chose as her maid of honor, her friend, Miss Adeline Lazinek. She wore a gown of orchid fashioned with a peplum bodice and a sliver stardust skirt. She wore a yellow blusher and carried a bouquet of yellow carnations. The bridesmaids were Misses Agnes, and Louis Posda, sisters of the bride, Wanda Butrym, cousin of the groom and Irene Skaleski, cousin of the bride. They wore identical gowns of yellow and orchid blushers and carried bouquets of orchid carnations. Little Miss Darlene smith, niece of the groom was flower girl and was dressed in yellow marquisette and carried a basket of lowers. The bride’s mother wore a gown of aqua crepe, and a corsage of pink and white carnations. The groom’s mother wore a gown and of black crepe trimmed in white and a corsage of pink and white carnations.

The groom was attended by his brother John Zurakowski, Leonard Posda, brother of the bride, and Kenneth Kudingo, cousin of the bride. A dinner and supper were served at the P.N.A. Hall in Thorp for almost 300 people. The tables were decorated in orchid and yellow and beautiful garden flowers were in evidence through the hall. A reception and dance was held in the evening. The bride has been employed in Chicago for the past eight years and the groom is employed as a printer and auctioneer. The bridal couple left on a wedding trip to the Black Hills and will be at home to their many friends after July 15, in Thorp.
