Schaefer, Adelle Hyacinth (Marriage - 6 Aug. 1958)

Miss Adelle Hyacinth Schaefer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Schaefer of Abbotsford, and Lawrence E. Stettler, son of Victor Stettler of Colby, exchanged marriage vows Wednesday morning, Aug. 6, at St. Thomas’ Catholic church, Milan. The double ring ceremony took place before a 9:30 nuptial high mass sung by the Rev. Randolph Urbie.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of white nylon tulle over satin. It was styled with long sleeves and a scalloped Sabrina neckline, outlined with pearls and sequins. Flower designs were embroidered on the fitted bodice with seed pearls. Iridescent sequins and eyelet embroidery trimmed the scalloped edge of the full, gathered overskirt. Her finger-tip veil of sheer nylon was held in place by a sequin covered crown. A cascade arrangement of pink roses, white mums, and stephanotis tied with satin streamers made up the bride’s bouquet.

The bride’s sister, Mrs. George Rueden of Abbotsford, was matron of honor and Mrs. George Weller of Colby, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. They were dressed alike in ballerina length dresses with scoop necklines. Their pink taffeta hoop skirts were covered with full, circular overskirts of white lace. A pink cummerbund of crushed taffeta fastened at the waist formed a sash and a braid of pink taffeta entertwined with pearls formed their head pieces. They carried bouquets of pink and white carnations. Their pearl chokers and earrings were gifts of the bride.

Two brothers-in-law of the couple, George Rueden and Geo. Weller, served as best man and groomsman. Kenneth Schaefer, brother of the bride, acted as usher.

For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Schaefer chose a powder blue dress with white accessories. Her corsage was of pink roses and white carnations. The bride’s grand mother, Mrs. Max Schaefer, of Stetsonville, wore a corsage of white carnations pinned to her blue dress.

Dinner and supper for 35 close friends and relatives were served at the home of the bride’s parents. In the evening, a wedding dance was held at the Dorchester Memorial Hall.

After a trip to the Black Hills, South Dakota, the couple will make their home in the Abbotsford area.

Both are graduates of Taylor County Teachers’ College, Medford. The bride teaches the primary department at the Curtiss State Graded school and the groom will return to the Pickard school in Marathon county after summer employment at the Welcome Dairy near Colby, Wis.

Guests from away at the wedding were from Colby, Stetsonville, Dorchester, Loyal, and Athens.
