Stracker, Herman (10 JUN 1871 - SEP 1947)

Word was received here Monday of the death of Herman Stracker, 76, a former Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) resident, at Modesto, Calif. He had been in poor health for the past two years and recently underwent an operation but was thought to be recovering.

Mr. Stracker was born June 10, 1871, and was married Aug. 22, 1890, to Erenestena Arendt, daughter of the late Martin Arendt of Marshfield.

He was employed by the Marshfield Light and Water Department prior to his coming to Thorp in the year 1900. He superintended the Thorp Municipal Electric Light and Water Plant from the time it was built and did practically all of wiring in the village at that time. His health became poor in 1919 and he and his wife and family moved to Modesto, Calif., where he worked for the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. He retired in 1936.

He was a member of the Marshfield Masonic Lodge and the Odd Fellow and Modern Woodman Lodges of Thorp.

Surviving besides his widow are a son, Everett, North Hollywood, Calif.; and five daughters, Mrs. Lorena Baldwin, Stockton, Calif.; Mrs. Mrs. A. N. (Elsa) McPherson, Marshfield; Mrs. Alma Holzhausen, Van Nuys, Calif.; Mrs. Lily Lillson, Modesto, Calif.; and Mrs. Inez Sager, North Hollywood, Calif. There are six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
