Horvat, Louis (1914? - 31 Aug. 1958)

A verdict of accidental was handed down by Clark county authorities Tuesday afternoon in the death of a Willard rural resident who died of a gunshot wound Sunday.

The body of Louis Horvat, age 44, father of five children, was found entangled in a wire fence in a field about one-half mile from his home. Mrs. Horvat said her husband had left the house about 6:15 a.m. to go hunting. He had returned home Saturday from Madison, where he was a patient at the Mendota State Hospital. He was to have returned to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Horvat said her husband had agreed to take her to church at 10:30 o’clock, and that when he failed to return she summoned neighbors. About 1 p.m. Sheriff Ray Kutsche was notified. A short time later the body was found by Mrs. Elmer Severson, who was aiding in the search. It was removed to the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood.

Horvat is survived by his wife, and five children, Betty, 16, Helen, 15, Angie, 14, Edward, 10, and Patsy, 8.
