Mills, Glen (22 Apr. 1915 - 16 Nov. 1991)

Neillsville--Glen Mills, 76, Loyal, died at 1:35 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Lutheran Church, Neillsville, with the Rev. James Gorden officiating. Burial will be in Neillsville Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, from 4-9 today and then at the church from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday.

He was born April 22, 1915, in the town of Weston, to the late Claude and Charlotte (Asplin) Mills. He was a 1933 graduate of Neillsville High School. He went to Fort Sheridan, Ill., on Oct. 15, 1933, as a member of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps. He was stationed in Clam Lake with Co. 1604 and at various other camps until Feb. 15, 1937.

He married Viola Hrach in 1942 and she died in Dec, 1949. He married Helene Moeller May 17, 1951.

He farmed in the town of Christie until Nov. 5, 1952 and also served as town treasurer from 1950-51. On Nov. 5, 1952, he was employed by Marshfield Fair Store as manager of the clothing department. In January 1956, he opened his own clothing and shoe store in Loyal, known as Mills Clothing and Shoe Store, and operated it until retiring in 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Helene; four sons, Glen Robert of Mission Viejo, Calif., Jim of Morton Grove, Ill., William of Potomac, Md., and Gerald of Gaithersburg, Md.; two step-sons, Sheldon Moeller of Alford (Alfred), Maine, and Jake Moeller of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Foemmel of Neillsville and Mrs. William (Lura) Genteman of Chili; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren.

He was also predeceased by four brothers, one sister and one step daughter.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be given in his name to the American Lung Association.
