Miss Dorothy Mae Sowatzke of Milwaukee, only daughter of William Sowatzke of Wisconsin Rapids and Mrs. Minnie Sowatzke of Minneapolis, and Eugene Frederick Schroeder, only son of the Rev. and Mrs. Paul Schroeder of Blair, were united in marriage at the Blair Community church on Sunday, Mar. 5. Services were conducted by the groom’s father, and it was the first wedding ever held in the Community church at Blair in its 50 year history.

The groom, who was born in Loyal, is a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Erwin of the town of Beaver and a cousin of Henry Ott of Loyal. He left Wednesday (yesterday) for Fort Sheridan, Ill., being inducted into the army there.

The church was decorated with ferns and pink potted Azaleas, and the wedding party preceded to the altar over a white carpet.

The gowns of the bride and her attendant wer fashioned identically with satin waists and ninon skirts that reached the floor, the bride’s being white, the other aqua. The bodices were buttoned down the back, and the sleeves were long. The bride’s veil was lace-trimmed net, falling three quarter length from a lace crown. Her flowers were white carnations, centered with pink rose buds, and a pearl necklace, with a locket suspended, encircled her throat. Miss Rutenberg wore a small net headdress in aqua to match her gown and a locket on a gold chain. Her bouquet was of pink carnations and sweet peas.

The mothers of thr couple wore medium blue afternoon frocks and shoulder corsages of pink sweet peas.

Lois Granlund sang "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us" and, "I Love You Truly: during the services, accompanied by Phyllis Melby, who also played the wedding march.

There were about 40 guests at the wedding luncheon, served immediately after the ceremony, at the home of the groom’s parents. A two-tier wedding cake topped with a miniature bridal couple, was the centerpiece.

Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder employed a short wedding trip to La Crosse before he was called to the army. The bride will make her home with her husband’s cousin, Mrs. Manfred Beduhn, in Milwaukee while Mr. Schroeder is in the service.

Previous to his induction into the army, the groom was employed in the shipyards at Sturgeon Bay. The bride has been employed in the office of Dr. Blank Stine in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Both graduated from the Blair high school.

Guests from away, besides the bride’s parents, were: Mr. and Mrs. P. D. Satchel and Mrs. Manfred Beduhn of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Fred Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Blum, Mrs. Marie Ott and Miss Louise Ott of Neillsville.

The Loyal Tribune joins their many friends in wishing them a long and happy journey through life.
