Meinke, Gertrude (Marriage - 25 July 1959)

Miss Gertrude Meinke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Meinke of Unity, Route 1, and John W. Alexander, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Alexander of Abbotsford, were united in marriage in Zion Lutheran church in Colby Saturday afternoon, Rev. William Christian officiating at the marriage services. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Herbert Juneau of Abbotsford sang "O Perfect Love" and the "Lord’s Prayer."

A cascade of red roses and white carnations formed the bride’s bouquet. Her ballerina-length gown featured a scalloped neckline edged in iridescent sequins and pearls. Scalloped tiers of embroidered nylon tulle fell over a net and white satin underskirt. Her veil of silk illusion was caught to a crown of pearls and rhinestones entwined with silk illusion.

Miss Karen Runzheimer of Colby, donned a ballerina-length gown of Nile green taffeta with embroidered net overskirt for her appearance as maid of honor. A bowed cummerbund of taffeta accented the fitted bodice. A matching head-piece and cascade bouquet of yellow pompons and white carnations completed her attire. Miss Nancy Roth of Abbotsford was dressed in a similar gown as bridesmaid.

Norman Meinke of Unity, was best man, and Donald Farning of Abbotsford was groomsman. Ushering were Elmer Rapp of Marshfield and Myron Beck of Wausau.

A reception followed the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents. Later a supper was served in the parish hall and a dance held at Dorchester Memorial hall. The couple will make their honeymoon trip to Yellowstone National Park.

The groom, a graduate of Abbotsford High School, will be a senior at Wisconsin State College at Eau Claire next fall. The new Mrs. Alexander is a graduate of Colby High School and has been employed in the office of American Box Board Co. in Colby, Wis.
