Brotherton, Lulu M. (4 Aug. 1881 - 2 Mar. 1960)

Mrs. Robert (Lulu) M. Brotherton died at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital last week Wednesday, after a lingering illness, at the age of 78 years. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Colby Saturday afternoon, Rev. David Passet officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Carl Sommers, Richard Aderhold, Neal Huhn, Ferdinand Huhn, Dale Reis and Willard Becherer. Mary Vorland sang "Rock of Ages" and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," accompanied by Sandra Loos.

Mrs. Brotherton, the former Lulu LaFee, was born in the town of Hull on August 4, 1881, and had resided there most of her life. She married Fred Allen on July 4, 1898. He died July 22, 1906. On December 31, 1909, she married Robert Brotherton who preceded her in death in 1954.

She was a member of the Methodist church and the Royal Neighbors of America. She took a keen interest in her church, lodge and civic affairs and was well known for her industrious and friendly disposition.

Children surviving are Marion Brotherton of Colby, James Allen of Milwaukee, Mrs. Richard Brotherton of Manitowoc, Mrs. Chester Perschke of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Clyde Walker of Grand Rapids, Mich. Brothers and sisters surviving are Gerald LaFee of Long Prairie, Minn., Ray LaFee of Brock, Saskatchewan, Canada, Mrs. Adolph Schlais of Medford, Mrs. Morley Rowecliffe of Melvin, Ill., Mrs. Roscoe Wilkins of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Malon Higbee of California. Also four grand children and four great grand children. Seven brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
