Kuester, Gustave Carl (30 March 1891 - 17 January 1971)

Funeral services for Gustave Carl Kuester, 79, of Rt. 1 Loyal, who died in Neillsville January 17, are to be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. The Rev. William Humlie will officiate and burial will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery. The Roycraft Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gustave Kuester was born March 30, 1891, in Holly, Germany. He came to the United States at the age of two with his parents, who settled at Fairfax, Minn. His marriage to Emma Bakerberg Schefus took place October 28, 1913, in Fairfax. They lived there for two years, moved to Riplinger for a short time, and then farmed in the Township of Loyal until 1946, when they moved to Pewaukee.

Mrs. Kuester died October 23, 1952. Following his retirement in 1957, Mr. Kuester resided with a son in Waukesha until last August, when he move to Loyal to live with his daughter, Lillian. He had served on the Town of Loyal School board, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include the following children: Alfred Kuester, Hillsboro; Edwin Kuester, Rhinelander; Harry Kuester and Henry Kuester, both of Waukesha; Mrs. James (Leona) May, Lisbon, Ohio; Mrs. Henry (Minnie) Schmidt, Towner, N. D.; Mrs. Florence Welsh, Tomahawk; Mrs. Edward (Lillian) Rossow, Loyal; Herman Schefus, a step-son of Marshfield. He is further survived by a sister, Mrs. Hattie Dankemyer, Webster; and by two brothers, Fred and Otto, Hutchinson, Minn.

Funeral services for Gustave Carl Kuester, 79, of Rt. 1 Loyal, who died January 17, were conducted Thursday, January 21, at 2 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. The Rev. Wm. Humlie officiated and burial was made in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Tim Kuester, Ronald May, Terry Kuester, Robbe Welsh, Howard Kuester, and Chuck Schmidt. Mrs. Erwin Dux and Mrs. Verland Dux sang, “Asleep in Jesus” and Softly and Tenderly.” They were accompanied by Mrs. John Olson.
