Nickel, Jean (Marriage - 9 September 1950)

Miss Jean Nickel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Nickel of Granton, became the bride of Vernon Sternitzky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sternitzky, at a ceremony performed at the Zion Evangelical and Lutheran Church at Granton on September 9, 1950. Vows were said before an altar banked with baskets of garden flowers and lighted by candelabras. The Rev. Arthur Oswald officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white Calais lace, fashioned with a sweetheart neckline. Her finger tip veil was of imported net with a lace headdress. She carried a colonial bouquet of red and white roses.

Her sister, Mrs. Frank Tykac of Marshfield, served as matron of honor. Miss Shirley Dobbe, a friend of Loyal, acted as bridesmaid. They wore gowns of lime green and yellow respectively, made of net over taffeta fashioned with hoop skirts. They wore matching headdresses and carried bouquets of gladiolus and asters.

The groom was attended by Wayne Sternitzky and Herbert Nickel, Jr. Walter Helm and Robert Witte were ushers. Miss Arla Ott sang a selection accompanied by Ruth Garbisch.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents for about 50 persons.

After a honeymoon in Canada the young couple will be at home in Lynn.

The bride was graduated from Granton High School and has been employed for some time at Warlum Robinson, Inc. The groom is employed at the Lynn Dairy.

Guests from out of town attending the ceremony included Mr. and Mrs. Robert Meier of Britt, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kampa of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Widman, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Weigel, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Widman, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Widman, all of Marshfield.
