Voge, Irene (Marriage - 5 June 1940)

St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby was the scene of a double marriage ceremony when Miss Irene Voge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Voge, became the bride of Vincent Frane and his sister, Miss Catherine Frane, son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Frane, became the bride of William Roohr, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs, Wm. Roohr, Sr., of Colby, Wis. The Rev. Leo Lang read the service at a nuptial high mass at nine o’clock Wednesday morning.

Miss Voge wore a white satin gown with lace bodice and sleeves and a finger tip veil. She carried an arm bonnet of Talisman roses and calla lilies. Her long train was carried by the Misses Yvonne Kniess and Shirley Frane, little nieces of the groom. They wore floor length organdy frocks with a sweetheart neckline, Yvonne, in pink with a blue bow in her hair, Shirley in blue with a pink bow. Both wore white slippers.

Her maid of honor, Lucille Allar, wore a dress of pink chiffon and she had a mixed bouquet of flowers. Her bridesmaid, Lydia Wepling, wore a dress of blue taffeta and she also had a bouquet consisting of mixed flowers. Both had veils to match their dresses. Mr. Roohr was attended by Alvin Frane as best man and Ed. Frome. Train bearers were Agnes Raeck, dressed in peach organdy, and Babe Witte.

Mrs. Virgil Frane, cousin of the groom, was matron of honor. She wore a floor length gown of aqua taffeta with a white carnation at the shoulder. A pink shoulder length veil and white slippers completed her ensemble.

Miss Marjorie Orth of Milwaukee attended as bridesmaid in a floor length pink taffeta with blue shoulder length veil and silver slippers. She wore a wrist corsage of mixed flowers.

Tony Schuh, as best man and Ernest Kugel of Milwaukee attended Mr. Frane.

Miss Catherine Frane, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin gown with finger tip veil and carried a sheaf bouquet of calla lilies. Her train was carried by Miss Agnes and Babe Witte, little niece and nephew of the groom. Agnes wore a floor length peach organdy with white hair bow and slippers. Babe wore a dark suit with long trousers.

A floor length pink chiffon gown, a pink shoulder veil and white slippers were worn by Mrs. Max Aller who attended her sister as matron of honor. She carried bouquet of mixed flowers.

Miss Lydia Wepling, the bridesmaid, wore blue taffeta, blue shoulder length veil, white slippers and carried a bouquet of mixed flowers.

Alvin Frane as best man, and Edward Frane, both brothers of the bride, attended Mr. Roohr.

A reception and dinner and supper were served in St. Mary’s gymnasium to approximately 150 guests. White lilacs were used throughout in the decorations. Two identical tiered wedding cakes in pink and white, white, pink and blue candles and white lilacs formed the decorations of the bride’s table. In the evening a wedding dance was given at Wiedenhoeft’s pavilion.

Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Frane and Mr. and Mrs. Roohr left on a wedding trip to Long Lake and the Wisconsin Dells. From there Mr. and Mrs. Roohr will go to their home in Chicago where the groom is employed in the trucking business.

Mr. and Mrs. Frane will continue their trip to Minneapolis and La Crosse and will be at home to their friends on the Frane farm a mile south and one and one-half miles west of Colby, Wis. Mrs. Frane is a graduate of the Abbotsford high school, class of ’39.

Witte, Babe and Agnes Witte of Unity; Miss Marjorie Orth and Ernest Kugel of Milwaukee; Adam Roohr of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Rueck of Two Rivers; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Raeck, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hardrath and son, Leland, of Owen; Mrs. Mary Stone of Greenwood; Mrs. Emma Schmidt and son, Kurt of Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Frane of Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Frane of Curtiss; Mrs. Adolph Demmer of St. Paul.
