Posda, Louise D. (2 SEP 1950)

Louise Dorothy Posda and Louis Skwierczynski of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), were married Saturday, Sept. 2, 1950 at St. Mary’s Church at Stanley. Father Ralph Geissler officiated at the double ring ceremony and offered the nuptial mass in the presence of a large group of relatives and friend.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Posda of Stanley, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ignatius Skwierczynski of Thorp.

Traditional white satin formed the wedding gown that featured seed pearls decorating the fitted bodice. The design edged the sweetheart neckline. The long sleeved model was styled with a full skirt which fell in a long train. A seed pearl tiara was worn by the bride, who chose a lace trimmed, full length veil to complete her bridal costume. White chrysanthemums were tied with white satin ribbons for the bride’s bouquet.

The bridegroom’s sister, Mrs. J. Kostick of Thorp was matron of honor. Her gown was yellow nylon marquisette over taffeta.

Asters, mums and gladiola florets were tied with contrasting ribbons for the attendants’ bouquets and each attendant wore a necklace of several strands of tiny pearls and matching earrings, which were gifts of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Agnes Posda, who wore green, Irene Gorzny of Chicago, who wore orchid, Lillian Kasmer of Chicago, who wore green and Theresa Posda, who wore orchid, and Mary Wirkus of Chicago, who wore green. Their dresses were styled identical to the matron of honor’s gown.

Best man for his brother was Nick Skwierczynski. The other gentleman attendants were Leonard Posda, Walter Posda, Robert Kudingo of Ladysmith, and Louis Papierniak of Thorp.

Mrs. Posda wore a beige lace gown for her daughters. Wedding. The lace over taffeta dress had a flower print design on the taffeta bodice. Mrs. Skwierczynski, mother of the bridegroom, wore a plum colored silk. Both ladies wore carnation corsages.

More than three hundred guests were present at the auditorium, where a noon dinner was served after the ceremony. In the evening, after the wedding supper, a dance was held honoring the young couple.

The bride is a Stanley High School graduate and has been employed in Chicago. The bride groom is a graduate of Thorp High School and is employed in Chicago, where they will live.
