Jakel, Ernst John (September 27, 1851 - July 1, 1931)

Ernst John Jakel was born September 27, 1851, in Germany

In 1880 he was married to Miss Louise Thybusch and came the same year to America to the state of Illinois where they resided for about three years.

In 1884 they came to Curtiss settling on a farm just east of town where they lived until the death of Mrs. Jakel in 1925. Mr. Jakel since that time made his home with his oldest son Charles.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Jakel, four of whom died in infancy. Two sons, Charles and William, both of whom reside near Curtiss, also ten grandchildren, survive him.

Mr. Jakel passed away a the home of Chas. Jakel Wednesday, July 1, 1931, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 3 days.

Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, July 3rd, at the home at 1:00 o’clock and at the German Reformed Church at 2:00 o’clock, by Rev. Hartman of Colby, Wis.

Burial was made in the Pine Hill cemetery.
