Mortvedt, Barbara Jo (Marriage - 6 March 1971)

Making their home in Marshfield are Mr. and Mrs. Allen Richard Strey, who were married at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, in Grace Lutheran Church, Rt. 1 Marshfield, by the Rev. Kenneth H. Peterson.

The bride, the former Miss Barbara Jo Mortvedt of Marshfield, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verne A. Mortvedt, Sr., Rt. 1 Chili, was given in marriage by her father to the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victory Strey, Rt. 1 Granton. Mrs. Earl Meissner played the organ for the occasion.

A white, floor-length gown of satin brocade and venise lace highlighted by a chapel train was selected by the bride, along with a bouffant veil held by a face-framing headpiece of venise lace. She carried a cascade arrangement of white chrysanthemums, yellow roses and baby’s breath.

Miss Edna Petersen, Wausau, was maid-of-honor; Mrs. Ronald Jakobi, Granton, brides-matron; David Strey Granton, Bestman; Ronald Jakobi, Granton, groomsman; and Eric Mortvedt, Chili, usher.

The bridal attendants wore gold-colored organza and brocade gowns with matching bow headpieces. Each carried a floral arrangement.

The wedding reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where an evening dinner was also served.

The new Mrs. Strey, a 1968 graduate of Granton High School, is employed in Marshfield. Her husband a 1967 Granton High School graduate is employed in Spencer.

Those who attended the ceremony from out of state were the bride’s sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Berger, Billy JeAnne, and Jeff, and her grandfather, Peter M. Schwartz, all of Aurora, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mortvedt of Gardner, Ill., her baptismal sponsors.
