Brown, Lucy (14 November 1868 - 10 April 1951)

Mrs. Peter (Lucy) Brown, 82, died at the Luther Hospital at Eau Claire at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 10. Funeral services were conducted on Friday from the Bergemann Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown, nee Lucy King, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Edward King on November 14, 1868, in the Town of Grant. She was raised on the farm where she was born, the present Harry Gehrt farm. She received her education in the Kurth School. In June, 1891, she was married to Peter Brown at Neillsville. They made their home on a farm until 1907, when they moved to the city and spent the remainder of their lives.

She is survived by one son, Frank Brown of Neillsville, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and four sisters: Mrs. D. A. Rodman, Mrs. John Howard, Mrs. Thomas (Amy) Wren and Mrs. Frank Ruddock, all of Neillsville. Her husband, Peter Brown, died in 1933, and one son, Ben, died in 1940. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers were: David Parry, E. H. Snyder, George Zimmerman, Leo Foster, Herbert Smith and George Prochazka.

Dr. Sarah Rosekrans sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. Jess Scott at the Piano. Persons from out of town attending the rites included Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tibbitts and daughter of Beloit, Mrs. Laura Brown and daughter, Lura of Oshkosh, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hogg of (the last lines were missing).
