Ploeckelman, Sue Ann (Marriage - 26 Aug. 1961)

Miss Sue Ann Ploeckelman, daughter of Ben Ploekelman of Colby, and Lester Gumz of Chicago, Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Gumz of Abbotsford, were united in marriage in Zion Lutheran church in Colby Saturday afternoon, Aug. 26, Rev. William Christian officiating at the ceremony. Herbert Juneau sang "O Promise Me" and "The Lord’s Prayer." The church was decorated with gladioli and phlox.

A gown in floor length of Chantilly lace was chosen by the bride. She approached the altar on the arm of her father and with her dress, designed with an iridescent trimmed scoop neckline, tapered sleeves with ruffled edging and a bustle back, wore a crown headpiece holding a finger-tip veil and carried a white Bible topped by an orchid with white streamers.

Misses Bonnie Ploekelman and Donna Ploekelman of Colby appeared in the bridal party as maid of honor and bridesmaid wearing blue sheer over taffeta gowns with cummerbunds and lace jackets. Matching headpieces in crown style with pearl trim held their face veils and their bouquets were in a colonial arrangement of blue centered pompons.

Sandy Bender and Debbie Fink were flower girls.

Attending the groom were Robert Gumz of Dorchester as best man and Herbert Gumz of Dorchester as groomsman. Herbert Gumz, James Apfelbeck and DuWayne Miller were ushers.

A reception following the church services was held in the Colby City Hall with dinner being served at the church.

The couple will make their home in Chicago where the groom is employed as a machine designer.

Guests attending the wedding were from Dorchester, Abbotsford, Colby, Chicago, Medford, Stetsonville, Milwaukee, Sheboygan, Wisconsin Rapids, Monroe, Spencer, Milan, Athens, Stratford, and Whitewater.
